FAQ

Common questions about visiting BeanPoint, our menu, and how we work.

Cupping session at BeanPoint for brew guidance

Is BeanPoint named after “bean” or “point” — or something else entirely?

We get this more than any other question. BeanPoint is not Bean (the legume brand), Point (a rewards app), or BeamPoint (a laser alignment tool someone once insisted we must sell). The name fuses two ideas: the coffee bean and the pour point — the exact moment espresso leaves the spout and lands in the cup. People misread it as “Beam Point,” “Been Point,” even “Bean Counter” before they visit. One delivery rider regularly labels bags “Bean Port.” We keep the sign simple and let the bar explain the rest. If you typed a variation into your maps app and ended up on Blair Road anyway — welcome, you found the right ledge.

What are your opening hours?

Tuesday to Sunday, 08:00–18:00 Singapore time. We are closed every Monday for deep cleaning, equipment maintenance, and roaster cuppings. Hours may shorten on public holidays — check our contact page or call +65 6962 4187 before visiting on eve of major holidays.

Do you take reservations?

No table reservations. Seating is first-come during service hours. For office catering or brew guidance sessions, book via the contact form with at least 48 hours notice. Groups larger than eight may find the space tight — consider staggered arrivals or takeaway for meetings.

What is on the espresso bar right now?

Origins rotate weekly or bi-weekly depending on supply. The current espresso, filter options, and guest roaster are listed on the pour board inside the café and summarised on our services page. Baristas can describe today’s profile — sweetness, acidity, body — at the counter. We do not publish a static menu online because stale information misleads more than it helps.

Do you offer plant-based milk?

Yes — oat, soy, and almond. Oat is the most popular alternative and pairs well with our house espresso. Plant milks are the same price as dairy. We adjust steam technique per milk type; texture may differ slightly from dairy microfoam.

How do you handle allergens and dietary restrictions?

Menu items may contain dairy, gluten, nuts, soy, and eggs. Pastry comes from external bakeries where cross-contact is possible. Our bar is open-plan, so airborne traces of milk steam or nut pastries may be present. Tell your barista about allergies before ordering — we will recommend safer options and note where we cannot eliminate risk. We describe flavour as guidance, not guarantee, and we do not claim allergen-free preparation for any item.

Can I buy beans without dining in?

Yes. Retail bags are on the shelf near the counter. You can purchase beans during open hours without ordering a drink. Grinding is complimentary with purchase — specify brew method. Limited lots sell out; there is no hold service unless arranged by email for orders of five bags or more.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, complimentary for guests. Network name and password are printed on the pour board. We ask laptop users to share window ledge seats considerately during peak morning hours (08:00–10:00). No printing or scanning facilities.

How do I get there?

BeanPoint is at 28 Blair Road, #01-02, Singapore 089928. Nearest MRT: Tanjong Pagar (EW15), approximately eight minutes on foot. Bus stops along Neil Road and Kampong Bahru Road. Limited street parking; we encourage MRT or bus. The unit is ground floor, wheelchair-accessible entry from Blair Road.

Do you host events or cuppings?

Small cuppings run on select Monday closures — dates announced via [email protected] and the contact page. Private events are limited by space; maximum seated capacity is twenty-four. Enquiries for roaster pop-ups or brew workshops welcome through the contact form with subject “Event enquiry.”

Taste & allergen disclaimer: Menu items may contain allergens including dairy, gluten, nuts, soy, and eggs. Cross-contact can occur in our bar. Please inform our team of dietary requirements. Taste profiles vary with origin, roast, and extraction — we describe flavour as guidance, not guarantee.
